Have you ever lied in your CV when applying for job? Well consider yourself lucky if you have and have not get caught.

Rhiannon MacKay Plymouth, Devon, UK has been caught lying on her CV where she claimed that she has two A-Levels and she even got the job and worked for one year before getting busted! According to the Daily Mail:

Rhiannon Mackay, 29, wrongly claimed to have two A-levels when she applied for a £23,000-a year-role as a ‘capital projects administrator’.

Ms McKay submitted a resume claiming she had two grade Bs for the job which required all applicants to have at least two A-levels.

Ms Mackay, who was unemployed, was then shortlisted and asked to provide a reference from her previous employer, the Royal Navy.

She then forged the letter of recommendation and signed it using the name of her boyfriend, a chief petty officer.

She beat several other candidates in a lengthy interview process and was awarded the job, which she held for over a year.

But suspicions were raised about her performance and she admitted lying on her CV when challenged by her bosses.

Well at least Miss Mackay is telling the truth now. Pic from Daily Mail

It’s bad enough to get fired from a job after her employer found out she’s not performing at work and has been lying on her CV along, but the situation got worse when she found herself jailed for 24 weeks which equals to 6 months!

Well, I hope she learns her lesson – though quite in a hard way. But then if she’s been performing at her work, then no one will know that she’s been lying on her CV right? Too bad, Miss Mackay.

This Saturday, 27 March 2010  is the day where we celebrate Earth Hour again!  Last year, millions of people around the world pledged support to Earth Hour by turning off lights for one hour. Expect buildings around the world to go dark for one hour in conjunction of Earth Hour.  Even the current world’s tallest building, the famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai will go dark from 8.30pm to 9.30pm (local time) to observe Earth Hour.

Here are some ways you can do to celebrate Earth Hour:

1. Turn of your lights for one hour between 8.30pm to 9.30pm om Saturday, 27 March 2010. There’s always candles to light up the atmosphere. After all, it’s just only for one hour.

2. Earth Hour is all about taking care of the earth. So why don’t you start planting a tree? And then see if the tree will live long enough until next year’s Earth Hour.

3. Show your support for Earth Hour by adding Earth hour widgets, logo, banners, Twibbons, wallpapers and posters. Paste it in your blog and ask others to follow suit! Go check out Earth Hour official site for all the tools and downloads.

4. Earth Hour is also the best time to start recycling. You don’t have to wait until 8.30pm Saturday night to do so. After all it will be too dark by then. Instead start your Saturday morning by looking around the house and see if you can recycle anything. Newspapers and aluminium tins are the easiest to find.

5. Do activity that doesn’t involve any electricity. You can tell stories to your kids what Earth Hour is all about, go stargazing, walk around your neighbourhood, or even if you are too lazy to do anything, you can just go to sleep.

Happy Earth Hour to all earthlings!

Look at the pic above and guess where is the location?

No, it’s not actually a furniture showroom or IKEA showroom for that matter..

It is actually located at a Paris subway station!

Yup, IKEA has come out with an out of box idea to promote their products. Instead of asking people to come by to their showroom, they come to the people instead!

So now, you can wait for your subway train to come while lounging around on IKEA’s sofa.

Isn’t that one of the coolest idea or what? Wonder when IKEA Malaysia will do the same. I certainly won’t mind waiting for LRT when I have IKEA’s sofa to comfort me by.

All pics are from here.

I read this book during my confinement period at it was certainly full of wackiness that sometimes you just feel like smacking Becky Bloomwood’s head. But it did make me laugh very hard! Get this at only RM25 from Chic Read.

Seriously, read this one with tissues ready! Here’s the synopsis from Galleria of Bookaholics who also is selling this book for only RM26! They were childhood sweethearts – no one could imagine Holly and Gerry without each other.

Until the unthinkable happens. Gerry’s death devastates Holly. But as her 30th birthday looms, Holly discovers that Gerry has left her a bundle of notes, gently guiding her into her new life without him, each signed “PS, I Love You”.

Angela’s Ashes is a poignant story of a poor boy, who is also the writer himself, Frank McCourt. He lives through poverty, starvation and heartbreaks but he managed to survive through it all and tell the story for all to read. Certainly one of my favourite and you can get this at Books ‘R Love for RM34.

Nicholas Sparks’ books are always my favourite especially The Notebook and The Wedding. I haven’t read the above yet, but The Last Song has already been adapted into a movie starring Miley Cyrus and her current beau, Liam something. Haha. So better read the book first before you watch the movie! Get the book at RM30 from From Her Bookshelf – and did I tell you the book is brand new?
